Patients with schizophrenia need medication throughout their lives.

Once labeled as schizophrenia, it does not mean that you have to consume drugs until the last moments of life. Psychiatrists decide on how long to give medicines based on various factors. Many patients get rid of drugs gradually and never see any symptoms or episodes of this disease again.

According to psychiatrists, about 72% of the patients live alone despite suffering from the disease, while around 40% of the patients again joined the job again.

Schizophrenia patients are weak-minded or stupid.

The best example of this myth being completely falsified is Professor John Nash, who inspired people with the Oscar-winning film ‘A Beautiful Mind.’ He was a Nobel Prize winner in economics.

If left untreated, schizophrenia can affect cognition, but it does not fool anyone or diminish their intelligence. Such people can also contribute to the world like you and us.

Such people are violent and dangerous.

People have started believing in this myth by watching films, but this does not happen. In cinema, a patient with mental illness is shown to be very violent and dangerous, due to which people have started thinking that psychiatric patients are violent and dangerous.

Unlike popular films and newspaper articles, most individuals suffering from this condition are victims of violence by family or outsiders. Some patients with schizophrenia may be violent, but most patients are not-violent.

According to a survey conducted by Oxford University psychiatrists, out of 13,806 schizophrenia patients, only 23% were found to be violent.

People who have schizophrenia have to face many challenges and undergo mentally and physically unbearable pain.
